On our final morning in Vancouver, we stored at Prospect Point, one of my favourite viewpoints in Vancouver. The weather had cleared and it was a glorious day. However, as we were taking in the view, I realised that our flight time was fast approaching and we needed to high tail it to the airport to catch our flights to San Francisco and Anchorage.
It was raining cats and dogs when we arrived in Squamish. Plus, Tracey and Alex were dead tired. So Sófia and Tom visited the railway heritage park while Tracey and Alex had a nap. Great collection of old locomotives and carriages, and an active workshop restoring old rolling stock. Sófia absolutely loved it!
Our flight landed early in the morning and we couldn’t check into our hotel until 4 pm. First we headed to Stanley Park before having some breakfast and driving up the Sea To Sky Highway to Squamish.
Went to Milestones in North Vancouver for breakfast. Nice brekkie and a good way to start the day. Tracey was especially tired since she didn’t sleep on the long flight from Sydney.
To kick off our September 2015 holiday we started out with Air Canada flight 34 to Vancouver. Covering nearly 8000 miles in 15 hours, it’s an ultra long haul but went fairly quickly. For me anyway. I slept for seven hours or so but Tracey didn’t get a wink.
On the drive from the Wombeyan Caves to Mittagong. Gorgeous, but very dusty.
Self-guided tour. We were the only ones in the cave. Brilliant!
We took a day trip down to Mittagong. Lovely lunch at The Shaggy Cow. Yum. Then a drive up the Mount Gibraltar road. We walked down to the Jellore Lookout.
Sófia: Alex, the sign says ‘beware, cliff edge.’
